Well, it depends on how you look at it. R&B and hip hop is so disposable. I mean, for a few exceptions, most of the rhythmic stuff runs its course after three or four months. Rock music can chart for 25, 30, sometimes even 35 weeks or more! Some of the longest-running songs have been by rock artists (Nickelback, Finger Eleven, Daughtry). No they didn't hit #1, but they've hung around much longer than many of their rhythmic counterparts.
