Only to the person it's awarded to and their family/friends/co-workers. It must feel great to be recognised as having created an amazing piece of work, but no one in real life cares. (Unless you've collected a decent amount - Beyonce's 17 is an amazing achievement that anyone can appreciate, for example.)
industry acclaim (to some extend)
exposure
being a grammy winner is a nice thing to add to your resume, especially if you are a songwriter... can lead to increased $$$ value
it's probably one of the most respected awards musicians can win
A sampling of performers and producers shows a “Grammy Bounce” of at least 55% in concert ticket sales and producer fees during the year following a Grammy win.
Taking an example from the movies industry, so I don't "shade" anyone's faves. Twilight is one of the most successful franchises ever, and it lacks any critical acclaim, and doesn't even have an Oscar or Golden Globe nom, yet, they continued selling millions of products, making more movies, etc, etc, and to them it is all that did matter, rather than having won a statuette.
P!nk wants one, and that's why I want her to win one. It's nice to win awards but ultimately no one except the fans remembers which artiste won which award in which year.
I guess it really doesn't matter. GP don't care about sales or grammys tbh. GP just stan for whoever they want. for example; my sister listens to bey and a whole bunch of urban artists. I'm pretty sure she has no idea how many grammys she has or how many albums she's sold. All she knows is that she's going to be shaking her ass to partition tonight at a bar.
That's like saying the Oscars don't matter for acting and is just another award.
Yes, every singer wishes they had a Grammy because it's a mark that you've earned respect in the industry.
No, not every singer wishes they had a Grammy. Eddie Vedder of Pearl Jam has openly expressed his indifference for the award show, as have many other musicians. He finds the Grammys meaningless. Don't generalize all singers.
You cannot deny the importance placed upon the Grammys and how much they mean to some people, but it is also ridiculous to claim any decision made by the Grammys is the one that should be accepted as credible or right.
