Some of you just don't get it, as I already expected.
Many of you are looking at the discrimination between the two groups at face value and failing to understand that historical disparities two. If discrimination was solely based on surface discrimination, hell, we wouldn't even need a Black History Month today. Anyone can be gay. Black, White, Asian, etc. Do you believe gay White men have life just as difficult as straight Black men?
Being Non-White means you are more likely to be born and raised in a highly concentrated Non-White neighborhood and subject to the ramifications residential segregation. This predisposes Non-Whites to poorer education, less access to quality healthcare and food options, and even small overlooked things like higher grocery store prices. Due to slavery, Blacks were not considered to even be human beings. They were considered PROPERTY. This means that legally, Blacks were not allowed to accumulate wealth. Wealth is passed down from generation and is one of the main reasons that keeps Whites socioeconomcally ahead. In essence, Whites gave themselves nearly 300 years of a head start. In the 1900s a community in Greenwood, Oklahoma known as the "Black Wall Street" was booming with multi-millionare black-owned businesses. Whites feared that these Black businessmen were gaining too much power, hence they burned down and destroyed.
Being Non-White means living in a nation that was built under ideologies of White supremacy that still laced in the way our society functions to this day. Don't let the Disney Channel "we all bleed red" kumbaya messages fool you. The playing field isn't even. Things like standardized testing which affects a person's access to the best universities are written by white men for
white men.
I could write an entire dissertation. Some of you are out of your damn minds if you think being Non-White compares with being gay.
