I hope that no-one takes offense to my comment, it may sound ignorant to some people but this is just my honest opinion on the matter.

But that's like saying you can go to someone's party because her parents are black.

Doesn't mean we have to tolerate it.
If you say something racist in 2014, you will get backlash.
If you say something sexist in 2014, you will get backlash.
If you say something homophobic in 2014, you will get backlash.
I'm not going to demean my self-worth so other people can feel good about their bigoted opinions. I'm not going to pretend other gay people shouldn't be treated with dignity so other people can feel good about their bigoted opinions. You can be a bigot, that's your right, but everyone else has the right to call you out. That's freedom of speech.

I can't wait for our generation to grow into parents - believe me this **** will be a lot less common. I know that once her son grows up he will see for himself that "lifestyle" is merely a euphemism used by homophobes to openly discriminate against other human beings. Everyone will one day see that for the truth it is.
The fact that she put her phone number means that she likely wants validation for her disgusting behavior. That's the thing with homophobes, their "concern" is less about the well-being of others and more about wanting to feel a false sense of superiority and empowerment.

There will probably never be a time everyone will accept homosexuality, but this woman is just plain rude, she could've just said no instead of that speech about not agreeing with their lifestyle.
Should we accept rudeness?

This is really sad.
People like her are the worst. Just say No and keep on with your life.
there's nothing right about bringing someone else down.

A simple "He will not be able to attend" would've sufficed. How rude of her.

It's like people go out of their way to show how much of a bigot they are to the world. Her asinine reply was unnecessary, but at least Sophia's dad's know that Tommy's mother is the absolute pits.

You're right, it IS (not may sound) extremely ignorant to say something like that. I just cannot, honestly.
No one has to put up with bigotry of any kind. Prejudice is NOT okay. And that's not even just it, that note was unnecessary and rude. BYE.

Firstly, let me just say that what that woman done was horrible. Not even because she bashed homosexuality, but it was just disrespectful to do that to anyone. Now, let me get onto the conversation. I love having conversations with grown people about subjects, broadens my mind.
You shouldn't have to demean yourself, you're 100% right, my post wasn't a "you should just take the hate" sort of post. I just feel like you have to accept to be accepted. You have to accept the fact that there are going to be people that don't like it, just like the people who're against it need to accept the fact that people ARE gay, and get over it. Not everybody in this world is going to agree on things, and sexuality just so happens to be one of them.
The same goes for the woman in the note, sure, she doesn't like the fact the Dad's are gay, and doesn't want her Child around them. The way she went around it was completely horrible, but it's just the same as when a Mother doesn't want their child hanging around with a certain group of children, because she doesn't like the trouble they get themselves in, and she doesn't want her Child to start adapting to that. I don't think that being gay is wrong, but this woman was brought up in a generation where it was punishable to stand up and be gay. Just like it's close minded that people can't just accept the fact that people are gay, I also think it's close minded of people to except people to change their way of thinking and to accept them when they've been brought up to believe the complete opposite.
I agree with whatever poster in this thread says that this younger generation, when we all get older, and we are running the countries, I feel like the whole thing will die down. We are a lot more exposed to things like homosexuality, transgenders and things like that where to us? It's just normal. I have a friend who is a female, who shaved her hair, dresses like a man and changed her name to a male name, and to me? That's normal, but to someone older, to people who haven't been exposed to this type of thing before, it's out of the norm and they don't like it.
I hate this now cause I've offended people and that was completely not my intentions -__-

The mom has every right to act this way. A lot of people don't want their kids interacting with people with that lifestyle.

Going to a birthday party with gay parents is subjecting a kid to the "gay lifestyle"?
