Shia LaBeouf is currently apologizing for his plagiarism with some plagiarized performance art and performance artist Marina Abramovic finds his statement super “manipulative.”
Albeit something that “makes a strong statement.”
For her 2010 performance The Artist Is Present at the MoMA, Abramovic sat across from strangers for days while crying, which is awfully similar to what LaBeouf is doing at an LA Gallery for his show #IAMSORRY in which he silently cries across from strangers.
When asked what she thought about Shia’s recent stunt, Abramovic replied, “First of all, I can’t think that this is directly related to me … I’m very happy people are inspired by [my] work, but this is not the same work. I don’t see it as anything to do with me.”
“It’s so manipulative, and it’s so complicated to answer,” Marina continued when asked about how Shia is wearing a paper bag bearing the words “I Am Not Famous Anymore” on his head.
