I don't know about the others but I know Adam didn't "come out" until after Idol ended.
Do you mean announce it to the world or tell people in his private life. Maybe the title means to say the contestant is the first one to discuss being gay on the show? I haven't watched this season so far. Not discussing sexuality on Idol doesn't mean a person is closeted.
Adam Lambert wasn't openly gay. The judges would always comment on how the ladies were after him and he would just smile. I had no idea he was until a few weeks after the show, I believe he came out.
