Haha! I love me some Leona!! Listen to this, from toyas-world.com:
"IS LEONA LEWIS THE REAL REASON WHY CLIVE DAVIS STEPPED DOWN?....
There's talk that, despite UK newcomer Leona Lewis achieving double no 1's with latest smash Bleeding Love and album Spirit, the record label were not at all impressed with her first week record sales. In fact, her luke-warm numbers is the likely reason that nailed the coffin of longtime industry executive Clive Davis (I am loving this phrase today, lol). As a result, he has been replaced in his role as chairman at his label, the RCA Music Group. Instead, he'll take a creative post at the company.
As reported this week, Mr Davis has been replaced with Zomba label chief Barry Weiss, who has enjoyed chart success with the likes of Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake and Chris Brown. I find it non-coincidental that this has happened in the SAME WEEK and after the announcement of Leona's album sales. I have no doubt in my mind they were expecting her to sell at least DOUBLE the amount than she did, especially with the large amounts of money that was spent going into her large promotional campaign to break the States. And with her Oprah appearance, they were expecting her sales to go through the roof. Getting to no 1 on both accounts simply wasn't enough, as great an achievement as it is. For them, it is all about the sales. On many accounts, artist's first week sales usually imply whether the record company will recoup back all the money that was spent on high-budgeted promotions. And they were in for a nasty shock when Nielson Soundscan figures were enclosed. Clive and Simon Cowell may have bitten off more than they could chew when they touted Leona as this generation's Mariah Carey since Leona didn't come through despite the large amounts of hype. And things don't even stop there either. It gets worse. How will this shake-up affect Whitney Houston, and worse of all; the lukewarm sellers on the label such as Mario, Monica and Fantasia? Because as far as far as I'm concerned Alicia Keys is the ONLY artist on that label making the record label their paper. And with Kelis being dropped from the Zomba label a couple of months ago, Barry Weiss seems like the kind of man who doesn't take further chances than he should."
NOT my information, just quoted. What do you think?

I think that the article is exaggerated. I'm sure Leona wasn't the final nail in the coffin for Clive. His controlling his artists too much is what did it.

Alejandroguyrice that article is BS!
Seriously, they only shipped 350k and she sold 205k so how could they expect her to shift double the amount LMAOOOOO
& seriously she has had a #1 single, Kelly Clarkson and the rest of the idol people (not digging at them) have never had #1s apart from their winner's single, so he has done more than enough, so in all honestly, not just being a Leona fan, that article is BS!
Eughhhh another moan! Why the **** did you include E=MC2 in the title, it's like you're trying to pee people off on purpose :X

The article is quite... o.o
Back in the 90's when Mariah first broke out she had only around 190k in sales. Whereas an unknown singer in the US (up to now) who just released a hit single and appeared on lots of talkshows could nail 208k.

Mariah's not appreciating Leona comparison
April 21, 2008
Mariah Carey says Leona Lewis doesn't sound like her.
The chart-topping singer insists she "didn't really hear any similarity" between Leona's music and her own, and claims there will never be a "new" Mariah.
She said: "Honestly, there has been so many, 'This is the new her,' and I'm like, 'OK, show me the new her. Can she come and work for me and be my double?' "
"And I'm not particular talking about this girl Leona, because I only heard her once and I didn't really hear a true similarity, particularly in the style of music.
"It is what it is and critics have compared me to so many people who are not really singers, and they're certainly not writers."
Mariah says if she spent her time worrying about her chart rivals it would depress her.
She added to the Observer Music Monthly magazine: "If I was to focus on the comparisons and really dwell on that, it would bring me down so I just try to pray that I lose the sprit of jealousy, it's not a good one - envy is a really powerful thing."
Leona's debut LP Spirit hit the number one spot in America last week.
