The Hampton Court-based skier, who has competed at the past three Games, will be the 35th of 42 women to attempt the downhill course this morning.
And Alcott – who broke her leg for the third time last August – plans to take unexpected inspiration in Sochi from one of the world’s leading pop singers.
Alcott, 31, said: “When I was on the Dancing on Ice Tour round the country, the pros there skated to Lady Gaga’s ‘The Edge of Glory’.
“I loved the song so much that, since coming back from my injury, I have started to listen to it at the start gate before going out.
“While it’s on, I can use the time to visualise the course about three times. It just makes me feel invincible.
“Last month, I had four races in about four days and I listened to it quite a lot.
“So, if you see me humming on TV – although admittedly I have the worst voice ever – you will at least know what I am singing.”
