A mother’s worst nightmare came true Tuesday when workers at a swanky Midtown hotel checked on her daughter and found the teen dead of an apparent suicide, cops said.
Rowen Altenburger, an 18-year-old watercolor painter and NYU student from New Jersey, had a plastic bag over her head when she was found in her Bryant Park Hotel room on W. 40th St. near Fifth Ave.
Hotel workers made the awful discovery at 12:30 p.m. after Altenburger’s mother called to see if her daughter had checked out of the $265-a-night room.
So tragic. Another freshman died just two weeks ago at the start of the semester. I didn't know her personally but had mutual friends. You should check out her art, it's really good. It's scary the number of college students killing themselves just the past few years alone
Is it for sure a suicide, with a bag over her head? Is murder possible?
There was a suicide note. So most likely it was. Unless someone forced her to make it look like a suicide. And seeing how she was on depression medication. It doesn't seem foul play was involved. This is so sad R.I.P beautiful girl
