This was at the time Beyoncé was really depressed and suicidal. The media was making her out to be a monster and she was having a hard time dealing with it. After her depressive stage she never talked like this again in interviews and became really distant when it came to revealing herself personally in interviews. The industry kind of brought her completely down and she had to build herself back up. Hiding her personal life helped her stay sane and normal for many years. There isn't anything wrong with that, she was just defending her life and family. Now that she's older and has experienced so much, I think it's obvious she's ready to reveal more of herself, as it shows in her new album. She has nothing to prove now, so she probably feels more free than ever before. She's truly a very complex and interesting person. If she didn't take the approach she did, she would not have been as successful and happy as she is now.
She was not suicidal. Depress ? yes but just because ur depress doesn't mean ur suicidal.
