It may have been the dumbest stunt in coffee history. Or else the coolest, smoothest move since the Frappuccino itself. A store opened in the Los Angeles neighborhood of Los Feliz this weekend calling itself “Starbucks,” only with the word “dumb” in front of the name. “Dumb Starbucks” had a Dumb Starbucks logo, a menu, and even the cups.
Although it looks like Starbucks, smells like Starbucks and even acts like Starbucks, the whole thing is an elaborate goof.
For 72 hours, Dumb Starbucks was the hottest cup of coffee in townuntil an announcement was made outside the Los Feliz location where masses scratched over the mystery. In a Dumb Starbucks green apron, Canadian TV comedy writer named Nathan Fielder revealed he was behind the handiwork. In the end, it was all part of a TV show. (more)
