every funny video of a black girl on atrl that involved a black girl she had her WIG/ weave snatcheD. I live in eastern europe and every girl has natural hair ... never saw a weave in real life . Why is the need to wear a weave when you can grow your own hair?

I live in Austria (in an urban area as well, our capitol city), and I could swear on my life that in 26 years and aside from a few old ladies who had probably lost most of their own hair, I have never met someone in person who was wearing a wig.
I know there must be some people here who use them though. I've seen wigs on sale.
Its hard to say but its a trend thats been embedded in some of the culture.

And there's a big cultural difference between African American women and African women living in Europe or elsewhere.
People don't realise but this is why we need more representation of non white people in media. When little girls are growing up and only see white women with long straight hair wherever they look, it gives a one dimensional perception of beauty that is hard to unlearn. Black hair is so beautiful, but people are made to believe that it isn't.
Some of it is true but not all.. If I went to school with mostly black kids, I'm 100% sure I would want to look like them, just because people (especially kids) have this mentality that "I want to have what the other person has". When I was little and saw a movie with a black girl in it, I wanted to have those little braids because I thought they looked cute af.

Girls here don't use them either. It's so unpopular that all of my friends think Rihanna's hair is real and wonder how can she change the color so often without causing damage
