You started early. I thought you were going to wait for the era to start to ruffle some feathers?

I never disputed that fact, I merely stated the data I got from ATRL's thread moments before this thread came into existence.

The delusion of people saying that she has no hype.
Y'all act like hip-hop has abandoned her like they did B.o.B. The good sis has more hype than he did at his release WITHOUT any concrete information.

Nicki Minaj has given us all sorts of characters in rhyme (Roman, Rosa, Martha...), so there's no telling who will show up to man her next LP (that's part of the fun), especially since she's now a Hollywood actress with a credit in her first big screen film, The Other Woman, which also releases this year.

Who: The first lady of hip-hop, Nicki Minaj.
What: The follow-up to 2012's platinum Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded.
When: TBD.
What We Know: We don’t know too much so far, but Nicki recently told Power 105.1 (via NME) that she has begun recording new material. "It's very different from anything I've done, which I'm surprised about. I'm not feeling like I did this. I feel like this is next level." She also told MTV that's she’s working with brand-new collaborators, though she wouldn't mention any names. But she did say "2014 definitely!"

18. Nicki Minaj, TBA
Label: Young Money, Cash Money, Universal Republic
Release Date: TBA
Nicki Minaj is in a weird place in her career. She's by all means a star: a household name, one of the only three "new" rappers who've gone platinum (the other two are Drake and Kendrick Lamar), with a gang of Barbz behind her. But she's had trouble with the nature of her fame. Is she a rapper's rapper or a pop princess? Can she be both? Why does she have to negotiate it anyway? Nicki can certainly be a fantastic rapper when she wants to be, but sometimes seems like she doesn't want to.
On her second album, Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, she mixed her pop appeal and her rap skills to disastrous results. Even if "Starships" was a big Billboard hit, it was bad for her brand and the alienated the hip-hop audience—the audience that rooted for her in 2009. But none of this would matter if her albums would deliver. Despite her enormous talent, so far she's yet to create a compelling disc that captures her appeal and shuts the haters up.
So for her third proper album, she flirted with the title Pink Friday: The Pinkprint, before telling MTV in April, "At this point I don't even know if I want to include the word pink." Does that mean she'll abandon the clustered style of her previous records? She's killed her guest verses this year, but in the past that hasn't lead to a great album. We can only hope it does this time

I bet the album will go #1, especially if its back to straight hip hop music. Not sure about the singles though.

I mean, the GP doesn't anticipate albums unless you put them in their face, we literally know nothing about this album and music fans are anticipating it. I'd say she's doing pretty well.
Anyways, the first week sales will speak for themselves.

Following the release of 2012’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, Nicki Minaj expressed a desire to return to her grittier mixtape sound. Then, in late 2013, the reigning female MC released a remix of PTAF's “Boss Ass Bitch” that finds Minaj barking out tongue-twisting metaphors and promising her own hard-hitting return in an entrancing, unrelenting coo. She subsequently confirmed plans for a 2014 album. —Molly Beauchemin

I think so, the GP may be skeptical after their perception of her post-Stupid Hoe, but the Boss Azz Bitch remix i think has drummed up enough hype alone, + the rumors of mixtape Nicki coming back has people wet in anticipation

!!!
And what's interesting, imo, is that she hit the Tumblr community hard with the Boss Ass Bitch remix. It has 1,851,097 plays and almost 110,000 notes.
She used a viral song to her advantage and woke up a portion of listeners who felt like Nicki lost it. It was a smart move and the best way to increase hype + catch people's attention.
And she channeled a part of her that we saw back w/ Itty Bitty Piggy, which was a big hit on Tumblr way back then and was how I discovered her back in 2010.
Nicki is so much smarter than a lot of people think she is.

I agree with both LiS and Alch. The "hype" seems to solely be coming from her hardcore fanbase.
She also has a lot to prove this era. This is a make or break era for Nicki Minaj to see whether
she actually has longevity as a recording artist, which has always been questionable.
