I think that was before Applause was the lead single though. Didn't she say in an interview it was Sexxx Dreams they had been planning to release for a long time? (I know you don't like Sexxx Dreams, but it would've made me **** my pants )
In the end though Applause was a decent choice for lead single. There aren't many other viable singles on the album. I wish DWUW (ft. Xtina) had gotten that lead treatment though.
The whole "Sexxx Dreams was a potential lead/Applause almost didn't make the cut" was probably a lie, cause Dave said that the lead single that was supposed to make us **** our pants was still the same as the one from 2012.
Am I the only one that thinks Gaga has a big enough repertoire to actually perform fan favorites, non-singles instead of her past hits? Bloody Mary and Heavy Metal Lover, the gems I did not get to see live
- 2 top ten US singles (Applause & DWUW)
- 2 top ten UK singles (Applause & DWUW)
- 1 top ten UK unreleased single (Venus)
- 3rd consecutive UK number 1 album
- 3rd consecutive US number 1 album
-Sold out UK tour...sold out in under 5 minutes...had to add more dates due to OVERWHELMING demand.
-Sold out French leg of her tour....sold out in under 1 minute.

Lemme join PawsDownLittleMonsters or GagaCheat and expose this b.
Do y'all think Gaga should've made the Fame era longer (releasing "Eh, Eh", "Boys Boys Boys" + maybe another single or two) and gone straight from The Fame to Born This Way? Or was The Fame Monster absolutely needed for her to get to Born This Way?
Wait has she really said that too?
Gags needs to get her damn story straight.
But I guess that's what happens when you live halfway between fantasy and reality.
Don't have the receipts at the moment but I remember someone from the label hyping Gypsy to high heavens and kept saying "wait for Gypsy." This was before Applause leaked. I know it was on the NeoGaf forums back when I lurked there and was interested in where she was going with ARTPOP.
One second I'm a lead single, then suddenly the album track is me.

Did you mean Dope? Her final top 10 on the Hot 100

I'm gonna need her to perform Government Hooker specially for me
I mean I was gonna skip a midterm to see my (cancelled show). I put my grades in danger and this is how she repays me?

BTW Era, which was seen as a flop era.

And that doesn't even include the tour achievements, which would probably be longer than your list.

She needed The Fame Monster. It was what solidified her and made her a pop star instead of a pop act. Going straight from The Fame to Born This Way would have been too jarring and she probably would have lost more fans. Born This Way would probably be more successful though.

Government Hooker is one of her best tracks. I expect to see it return in some fashion. But knowing her, she'll bring back Black Jesus at my (cancelled) show.
Gaga won't ever get a #1 without RedOne, she needs him desperately
Look at Gypsy, the best shot she has at a #1, co-written by him. His power.
I agree, it's def her best chance at #1 on Bubbling Under

That's not even funny. Let's not joke like that sistren
I'm pretty sure Gaga decided on Applause as the lead in May. Before that, I believe it was Aura, and before that it was Gypsy. Applause was not the same song they were talking about as being the original lead.

I'm so happy Gaga is performing on Fallon's premiere week. Second night too, and after the Olympics. Huge ratings, here we come. G.U.Y, ha awakening
