I don't know if it's this way for all states, but in my state you can get up to 25 points off of your test. Some mistakes count as more than one point. If you get over 25 points, you fail and have to retake it at a later date. I was incredibly nervous for my test, and I practiced parallel parking with my mom like 5 times right before the test. I thought it was going pretty well and then we got back and my instructor was like "Well, you barely passed". My heart DROPPED and she explained everything that I did wrong. I got 23 points off apparently when I was doing a left turn at a stop light, I didn't even stop before turning That was seven points off alone. I don't know what was going through my head at the time but I know it must've been safe to turn. So anyway now I'm known amongst my friends as a ****** ass driver and it's probably a good thing that I don't yet have a car even though I got my license almost a year ago

but when the lady asked for the insurance i had no idea where it was ( i was in my moms car).. so i opened up the glovebox and scissors fell out on the lady's lap. i dug through the glovebox and there was the insurance, but that lady hated me lawd.

I think in my state it's 20 points. I remember I got penalized 11. It really wasn't that hard, but I made a few mistakes, like everyone probably does. 23 is still ok considering you were nervous. The important thing is that you passed.

In the UK you can get up to 15 minor faults, no majors. First time I took it I got 4 minors and I messed up my parallel parking and in a panic to try and get it right i didnt stop for a passing pedestrian, which counted as a major.
Second time a few months later I got nine minors and passed, but I very nearly stalled at one point right near the end and almost failed the examiner said. I havent driven since either, I have no confidence in my ability

In Tennessee, it is you can have 3 minor faults and no major faults. That is the reason my sister failed hers. (Ran a stop sign, a red light, and failed parallel parking.)

My parents didn't want to pay money for driver's ed. If they went ahead with that I would likely have already gotten my license.

So, my story, I was supposed to take my driver's test on a Monday or something, in November so it was rainy season, and it was surprisingly a dry day. BUT the back brake light of my mum's car on one side wasn't working. And my permit was going to expire in like 2 days.

We were lucky to get a slot the day after and i was pretty annoyed so at least I wasn't nervous. But guess what weather it was the next day; RAIN. Like pouring rain. I did fine on the test though. I think I got 3 points off or something. I remember there was this one point the test lady, who was a quiet Mexican lady, made me miss a turn she told me to take and her response was so "the turn... was right there..."

I swear they make up crap to dock you points. 'Mmmmh your breaking wasn't smooth enough at that stop sign.' Bitch...

I took mine on my 16th birthday (January 7) and it was the coldest day in 6 years (2°) but I did flawless. My picture sucks tho bc I'm super pale and my lips are bright red from cold.

On my learner's permit I got a 28/30

Well in the Netherlands they'll let you fail for everything and make you pay about trice as much for a retake

First time I failed for not looking behind me enough and I drove too slow when entering the highway

The next time I failed cuz I didn't look ahead enough and therefor went for the wrong lane. I fixed all of it safely but the bitch wouldn't let me pass... i was ready ti snatch ha

My driving instructor literally did not care at all. He was on his phone the entire time and I didn't even have to drive through a school zone bc all schools were closed for ice. He was nice tho and gave me a perfect score.

It was a mess.

If I remember correctly, you were given 30 points; and I had 27 points. I didn't signal soon enough (what?) at a red light, and when it came time for the parallel parking, I hit the ****ing cone with my mirror. When you're driving in between it in reverse, my driver's side mirror took down the post and cone. I thought I failed, but I still managed to pass.
