Holy Ground of The Lord don't need no superficial GP impact to be good, unlike what the MM songs are trying with.

disco brought up matt nathanson earlier, which reminded me; lets talk about how i got a taylor lyric, a john mayer lyric, and a matt nathanson lyric tattooed on my body for the remainder of eternity literally like a week before matt nathanson accused lord of ripping off his lyric :/
EDIT: no regrets, they're still all 3 of my favourite tattoos that i have

it's not about him being good or amazing, it's about him representing taylor the way that she has always claimed she wants to be perceived as a presence in the industry

I think Taylor is highly delusional about the success of MM tracks. She probably thinks they were huge WW hits when in reality they had close to 0 actual impact. Like somebody said earlier she promoted the **** out of those too. Poor Lord.

It sounded like a WANEGBT rip-off that's why it didn't smash. If Taylor released it later then it would've smashed. Wrong timing I must say.
Red should've been the 3rd pop single. Crossover smash.

THIS. 22 was a flop the day it was released. WANEGBT smashed during its time, but is now forgotten. Trouble kinda left an impact though. But YBWM and Love Story>>>>>>
In terms of impact, I'd say:
You Belong With Me>>>>>>Love Story>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Trouble>>>>>>>Teardrops>>> Never Ever.

Tbh I thought WANEGBT was gonna be iconic cuz everyone would be just going around yelling 'NEVER EVER EVER' but it's like forgotten now

Come on, he only produced 3 songs in Red. 1 of them went #1, the other one went #2 and went #1 in pop charts, and if i'm not mistaken, it's (IKYWT) her 2nd best selling single in her entire career. The 3rd one couldn't become that successful in the charts, but still it's a top 20 hit and its music video made a great impact (at least for someone like Taylor whose videos aren't usually good) All of these 3 music videos are vevo certified and at least 2 of these songs were WW hits. Their performance were clearly quite better than any of the singles in Speak Now which were produced by Nathan Chapman, no need to deny that. Quality can be debateable but commercial success is all about statistical facts.
I think we're all delusional (including myself) when we're thinking that working with MM is the main reason for her losing respect and credibility. This might be one reason, but definitely not the main (or determining) reason at all. When i talk to people about Taylor in some other websites and asked to them 'Why don't you like Taylor Swift?', i usually got these responses:
1. She dates a guy at most 2 months and then she writes a song about him (aka always writes about her ex bf^s argument)
2. She's not country anymore (That's the only response that MM could be responsible for, however, they usually add that if she admits she's doing pop right now, they wouldn't mind her or they don't hate her at all. So, they're not against her gonig pop)
3. She can't sing (Her vocals are not strong)
4. She's so fake as a person (i mostly heard this from females tho, sounds like jealousy)
So, if you look at the responses her making pop music is just a part of the hate about Taylor Swift, and actually GP is not really against her making pop, they just think that she branded herself in the wrong genre. Of course some people would think her making pop would be a bad attempt for her career and critics also probably would criticize more when she become more of a pop artist, but for GP, that's not an important thing at all. They usually hate her when she's nominated in the country categories in the award shows, that's prbably becuase they heard only these 3 MM songs from the album. (And i don't blame GP at least for this issue, because if i wouldn't follow her closely, i'd think the same)
The most common response, tho, as i said so many times before ,her songs' topics. Most of the people who say that they don't like Taylor Swift; usuallly say that 'They're tired of her break-up songs and she always sings about the same issues'. Of course, as a stan i know they're delusional here, and i do blame the GP here , but that's the reality, people perceive Taylor in this way. So, she should change this perception, of course she can't (and she won't) change her main themes in the albums, but since GP usually follows the singles not the albums, she may choose the singles differently from her previous albums. Songs like Mean or 22 are the singles that i'm expecting in LP5.

You think that the new album will sound like a Katy Perry's albums are.... LOL
It seems like you forgot how Taylor works, what is her style, what are the most important things to her.. Really CALM DOWN! IT'S TAYLOR SWIFT you are all talking about, not a simple pop-star like Katy or Britney!

I'm fine with more MM songs if they're happy, love songs. Although I am worrying about the sound of LP5 and where she's going. She said she'll try to be unpredictable, so who knows.

Remember around late November she said that she has 7/8 songs already done for LP5. What if they're all MM? We haven't got much news of other producers, she said she wants to work with Antonoff again, who else? Nathan is a definite.

I'm worried but Zedd could happen. If Zedd produce more than 1 song in LP5, even the people who don't want MM would be thankful to MM songs, really. Such an overrated producer.
I'm expecting 6-7 songs from MM. The rest probably include mostly Nathan Chapman. Zedd could be for 1 song, and maybe for the other collabs like Lorde, there might be different producers.

i know this can't really be proved and is subjective but i think in terms of impact:
YBWM > Trouble > WANEGBT > Love Story

These MM debate should be closed for now. Unless we get the receipts and hear those songs in person, we ain't sure how they sound like.
I don't get that why she would change the pattern of choosing the song from the second half of the year for LP5. She said that she has already done 7-8 songs which I don't believe honestly. What if she ends up writing better songs this year or has she stopped writing because the album is already done
