To be fair, this specifically has been a thing for two decades as mentioned in the OP, but I see your point.
I feel like the US should interfere with world issues only when it has an explicit need to defend itself or an ally or there is a moral obligation on the part of MANY nations to intervene in regards to a situation. While I believe wholeheartedly that this system is indeed intended for use only as defense, it is arguably our own actions that create a situation in which we may need this specific system.
It would be nice if countries could consider the millions of innocent lives stuck within the tensions before even thinking about military actions. Neither Iran nor Russia nor the US should have ever come to the position in which all these things are happening and all parties involved should think a lot harder about the implications of certain actions.
Also y'all, stop getting heated over this or this thread will also be nixed - you won't be warned again.
