A Grammy, not to mention a lot of times Grammy-winning songs are also number-one singles. But getting acclaim for my music would always mean more to me than the sales would. To know my music is good enough and is accepted and appreciated by the music industry would obviously feel much better than knowing that I had a song that was number-one but did nothing afterwards.

I'd rather have a #1 if I was an artist, but winning Album Of The Year Grammy would mean more than anything.

#1s don't mean anything unless you have an ungodly amount. Plus, the better music tends to get the Grammys, where as the number #1s go to the most popular song.

Definitely a Grammy. It's rare that a Grammy goes to a song that isn't successful, anyway so I would prefer to have the success and the recognition. Not being #1 doesn't mean not being a success or memorable.

I can't even listen to bad romance anymore, and I deleted if from my spotify. Tik Tok on the other hand still sounds amazing.

Wow @ how ATRL glorifies the Grammys. They weren't given to 'the best' in whatever categories multiple times. Legends like Led Zeppelin, Nas, Diana Ross, Tupac, Bob Marley, Jimi Hendrix, Queen etc etc never won a Grammy (and let's not act like those lifetime achievement Grammys actually mean something, they're handed out to undo some of their notorious snubs more than anything).

A #1 song means your song connected in some way or another, which is way more valuable than an award that has made way too many questionable decisions/snubs in the past.

Many artists can manipulate their way into getting multiple Grammys through different connections so I'd say your argument is invalid.

ATRL glorifies #1s in the same manner and being #1 certainly isn't automatically indicative of being the best or of high quality or even memorable, for that matter. Grammys and success typically go hand and hand and some people just feel that having success + recognition matters more than having highest peak position at some point. It's not that deep.
