I have nothing against people who GENUINELY like this album. It's just I prefer originality and freshness over some predictable formula. People who find this album great are the ones who wouldn't mind listening to an album full of the same song they like with different lyrics. You know when the square root of her current Emancipation was my #1 album 3 years ago and still remains one of my favorites it means that there's something that went wrong with this release.
She raised the bar really high with her previous effort. If you want to make another "We belong Together", that's fine. Just make a song as phenomenal; but don't clone it. I can understand her using a been-done formula in a critical time as post-Glitter/Charmbracelet era. But she didn't need to clone that album this time AT ALL. As a result, this era has no signature sound. It sounds like it belongs to her previous one. That's my problem with E=MC2. She regained her crown 3 years ago, took her time and you'd expect that she would come with something out of this world.
