Roar is becoming one of Katy's biggest hits ever in the UK with almost 900k sales and she has done a pretty good promotion there but somehow her album's sales don't match her singles' success.

Now the UK is one of the biggest music markets in the world and it's crucial for any artist's sales. Do you think the backlash she received after her live performances are hurting her?

This's no shade but I was surprised by her sales especially when she's so big in the UK. I thought it would have been Platinum by now.

Just because Beyonce is selling more doesn't mean Katy is not selling enough either.

So what if the single sold more? Roar also sold over 4 mil in the US and her album hit 1 mil so far there as far as I know.

Well, you can't expect that the album will reach the singles sales obviously. Albums doesn't sell as much as singles anymore.

They don't use ha i guess, they like EDM more

I guess the X Factor performance turned them off.

She's still doing well. Almost platinum.

The UK album sales in general are beyond terrible at the moment

- The Grammys are nothing in the UK. The are not even screened on the main tv stations.
- Katy is the new Britney in the UK. Britneys early albums sold well after multiple singles were promoted. Prism will sell in time. Katy, like Britney was, need radio hits and continuous airplay/singles/exposure to sell albums in this market. Prism is doing pretty ok.

Not in youre Ed Sheeran or Ellie Goulding. But the British media really shove their own local acts down the publics throats, even over more quality material.

For me,it's normal,Katy's album also losing to Beyonce's album in US,one of Katy's biggest markets also.

I know that, but 300k for someone as big as Katy Perry shouldn't be that hard after 3 months from releasing her album. I think because she's been unfortunate with her live performances there and the British Media just went for it and drag her like there's no tomorrow.

Well the UK didn't use Uncle after her performances there and DH is only just taking off. She's not a legend like Beyonce who could poop an album and it'd sell she needs constant exposure which she's been lacking because for DH the UK has been about 2 months behind the US.

Also she sure has hell made up for it else where. PRISM is 3x Plat in Aus, TD including rerelease is 4x.

I don't think Ed can be compared to Katy tbh. Ed is appealing to a different market than Katy is.

Comparing Ellie to Katy, Ellie has sold 753.750 copies (including a re-release) in 69 weeks, averaging at just under 11k a week, while Katy sold 258k in 15 weeks, averaging at just over 17k.

Edit: Also know that Ellie has had multiple singles that were spun to death on radio's

Are you talking about your fav?. Because that's not true for Beyoncé , she has sold 3 million ww in less than 2 months. She beating all the other girls, Bangerz, Prism, Artpop, BJ etc.
