The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is not The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Library and Archives. The library isn't some special, significant library. It's a library. It deals with music from the rock and roll era. That's all.

Exactly what I was going to say. All the pop girls now are just Icons, none will reach legendary status unless they defeat the test of time. That being said, I have a couple favourites that are legends, but most I would consider an icon, or neither.

Britney contributes as much to her music as a young Disney star.
Again, she's not a legend. Doesn't have the artistry of one, doesn't have the impact (on actual music) of one. Sales shouldn't contribute at all, it just means she's popular.
She's an icon undoubtedly; everyone knows her. But a legend? A status received by artists the likes of James Brown, Stevie Wonder, Elton John, Bob Dylan, Bob Marley, Frank Sinatra? Try again

Britney is credited with the REVIVAL of teen pop, how is that not having an impact on music?! She has nearly every award out there because of her impact on music. She has a grammy, she has a star on the walk of fame for MUSIC, so how can you say she hasn't had an impact on MUSIC? She was also ranked as the fourth VH1's "50 Greatest Women of the Video Era" show list, ahead of most of her contemporaries and only behind veterans Madonna, Janet Jackson, and Whitney Houston - three three of of whom are undoubtedly legends. So how can Britney be listed fourth only behind three legends and NOT be a legend? I've given you sales, I've given you critical recognition, and I've given you impact on music. What more does she need to do to be a legend?

Britney's contribution to her music. Would it make a difference if it were someone else singing the music?

“We purchased that CD a few months ago as part of a project involving the acquisition of the most critically acclaimed albums of the past couple of decades,” Andy Leach, director of Library and Archives at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, tells MTV News via email.
Leach cited the album’s appearance on Rolling Stone‘s list of the top 50 albums of 2007 as the reason it ended up on the Rock Hall’s list of album’s to acquire and archive.

And this equals "induction" how? And how does this refute my point that it's JUST a library? Oh ok.

Yes, considering she is the one who chose ... Baby One More Time as her lead single and came up with the idea to do the Catholic school girl uniform video, instead of the gimmicky Power Rangers-es que music video that the record music company was pushing for. Britney actually did have a say in her music, as much as some people like to pretend she didn't. I'm sure she was just as involved, if not more involved, at the beginning of her career than Beyoncé and others were at the beginning of their careers.

Mess...
Now you're mentioning VH1 lists lmao. Might as well check into Rolling Stone lists now too, metacritic scores, of which Britney hasn't received a score over 72.
I wonder if these people who make these lists back up their reasons. I wonder what they say when they put Britney #4 on the Greatest Women Of The Video Era. Isn't vh1 mostly centered around music videos too?
Impact on music, as in impact on the sound of music. As in her music influencing the actual sound or concept of a particular genre. She "revived" teen pop, that goes more towards sales. You haven't given me any actual critical recognition or impact on the sound/idea/concept of music like most legends have.
Britney is just a label puppet in the industry who never sold out because she always made generic radio music, so she can't sell out. There's little to none craft with her albums, and when she actually has a solid coherent album, it's due to who she's worked with, not her at all. Her writers and producers. She's not a good artist. She lacks originality, she hasn't done anything that influenced the way artists write or producer their music, she lacks creativity, etc. I could go on.
VH1 lists LMAO, oh lord

Beyonce and Rihanna will be legends in the future, and possibly Xtina.
Britney and Katy will remain/become Icons.

I hope my fav gets a #1 video on Teen Nick Top Ten Videos Countdown. That would give me more receipts to back up their legendary status. Or maybe just get a top 5 video but only behind ancient legends, that would definitely solidify him as one.

Using Britney stan logic:
"Beyonce's a legend AND an icon because 4 has been 'inducted' into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (Library and Archives) and it's her lowest-selling album and the one that made the least impact"- http://catalog.rockhall.com/catalog/727713832

It isn't just a library, in their own words it was created "in order to broaden awareness and understanding of rock and roll, its roots, and its impact on our society.” The album actually had to have had impact on society. They don't just place any album that was released in there.

In conclusion, Britney is not a good enough artist to be a legend.
I don't see how anyone could argue this. It's not even subjective

No, Beyoncé is a legend because of the impact that she has had on music, just like Britney is a legend because of the impact she had had on music. Being added to the archives is just one of many honors that both LEGENDS have received.
And I'm glad to see that you are pressed enough to search through the archives to prove your point.

No, it is JUST a library. It's not some significant wonder. It's the library of a music institution that has a specific goal in mind.
"The album actually had to have had impact on society."- JISOS KRAIST.

An HONOR? LMAO what? It is a library. Being in there isn't an honor. If it was an honor, it would be a publicized event.
The Hall of Fame Library has a copy of Whitney's duet with Enrique Iglesias. Yet they don't have copies of any of Mariah's albums.

Countless artists, including Adele, probably one of the most talented artists of our time, would disagree with you. She canceled one of her concerts and pretended to be sick to see a legend perform. And apparently she HAS done something that influenced the way artists write and produce their music, because Lady Gaga, Katy Perry, Adele, Miley Cyrus, and countless others have cited her as an inspiration.

According to Blackout's credits, Britney contributed writing into one song out of twelve. And this one song she contributed to, she's listed last, which means she barely contributed.
She has no contribution to the production.
Musical genius.
