I've been on a big solo fix as of late, and that fix has inspired this very question. I'm sure that it will be harder for some of you than for others, but that's okay. I'm also not sure if this should be in the Blog forum or whatever, but I don't really care.

Personally, I think that the best guitar solo lies within Metallica's "Ride the Lightning". It really makes you feel like you ARE riding on lightning. In particular, the second part of the solo absolutely RULES. I raise my fist every damn time the "WAH-WAH-WAH-WAH-WAH-WAH-WAH-WAH" part happens. I also adore the opening solo in Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover". I have yet to hear to solo as beautiful as that one, but it's still only second best, to me.

Now, what's your choice?

Interesting. I'm going to have to think about this for a while but I know definitely that Eric Johnson's "Cliffs of Dover" is in my top 3 as well.

And yes, the Cliffs Of Dover opening is quite amazing

One (Metallica), American Idiot, Paranoid Android, Take Me Out and Seven Nation Army are my favorite ones.

Metallica, "Fade to Black" (almost any song from their 80's era would be a fine choice)
Marilyn Manson, "Astonishing Panorama of the Endtimes" (it's a keyboard solo, but I took the time to type it out and you WILL agree)

Oh man, the solo in "Paranoid Android" RULES. The "One" solo is in my top ten ever.
