i liked the songs that were leaked

i think my favorite kelly songs tend to be the ones that aren't released (don't, for all i know, etc)....but i really liked most of the new leaks. i am in love with "close your eyes"! i thought that "with a little luck" was a little strange - didn't quite ring true for me. i just feel lucky we got to hear them at all. i know there is a ton of music (not just hers, but other artists as well) that we will never get to hear. i think that's sad!

and i don't think kelly is in search of her "magic genre"....if you've ever taken a look at her covers, she pulls from a pretty wide spectrum of music - country, blues, soul, rock...i think she's just a true music fan. so that will just naturally bleed into her work.

I was pretty vocal about how much I disliked both 'Breakaway' and 'My December', with exception to a few songs here and there, but I really liked these demos. I'm not addicted to them but played 'em each about 2-3 times. I'm seeing development from her, and I think she's moving in a good direction. She has always been the Texas country-girl kind of persona, and it's disappointing that people want her to keep rehashing Breakaway. Even though it was poppy as hell, it lacked maturity and optimism.

I think a country-tinged album would suit her well. Carrie, Taylor, and Kellie have proven that country albums can be lucrative, catchy, and heartfelt all at the same time, but in Kelly's case she'll add some of her signature pop-rock attitude to the mix to keep it from being too vanilla.
