1D also had the benefit of having songs from their prior album still selling significantly. i love 1D and i'm not surprised they made the top of the list. bey did also release just digital exclusively for the first week (and just iTunes, not other digital outlets). bey doesn't have to make this list to be considered successful for this year. i wonder if perhaps she'll make it for 2014 though?
She'll definitely make it (unless all her singles flop but it's not looking that way at all).
The cut theirs off before the year is out. I remember this being a big deal last year because some songs sales were split between years so it was hard to know the true sales.
Doesn't add up. That IFPI chart has 1D's TMH at 4.4 Million.
As of November 30th it was still below 3 million. It wouldn't have reached 4.4 million until New Years.
Well there were other cases where the whole year didn't add up so a cut off date was implemented. It possibly wasn't November 30th, but it wasn't the whole the year. Read the entire thread to see the discussions.

It looks to me that it is 100% full year for albums, but maybe singles are cut off.
Unless IFPI actually says it cuts it off early I am more likely to believe that it is full year......... rather than depending on the word of people in an ATRL thread who were pressed because they didn't like the numbers

Well if the albums list is the whole year, but the singles are not, then wouldn't that reflect the placement of the artists on the overall list? People aren't pressed, just trying to explain based on tier past calculations.

Thing is that I don't get why we are talking about it then. Bey's singles are not exactly lighting up the charts WW..... so why is it brought up as a defense as to why she didn't chart?
The way people were wording it implied that the reason she didn't chart was because the tracking ends early. Which isn't the case for albums (the thing which would have pushed her into the top 10)
Katy and her never ending slaying though ,I had a bit of hard time trying to find a missing name but I guess that was expected since singles dont matter to them, unfortunately this might mean their sales will be splitt into 2 years . Sometimes selling singles is important hey....

We don't know exactly when the chart end, so I was referencing that it may have not been the full year. Secondly, when the chart starts and ends effects all artists placements, not just Beyoncé.

The album numbers from last year solidly confirm that it is full year. Comparing to Mediabase they correspond very correctly.
