I mean, didn't Indiana have a huge pile up on their interstate, just last week?

The North: Snow and Ice
The South: Tornados, Hurricanes, and Floods.
If you put a tornado up north, they will flip their **** and go bat ****. I was in NY when a tornado threat occurred. They were doing the most.
If you put a winter storm down south, they will flip their **** and not go any damn where.
That's that. Both locations have different preparation tactics that the states actually pay money for.
BTW, if you are commenting from anywhere in Europe, STFU. It's different over there. Nothing over there but snow, coldness, RAIN, and depression.

A mess. Snow storms here leave about 30 centimetres usually. That's about 12 inches for Americans.

Yea, I get it, just like it seemed "foreign" watching NJ, NY, etc. weather a category 2 hurricane, which is really nothing to be honest. I mean, when you have lived through some category 4 and 5 hurricanes, a two ain't nothing but a windy day with some water.
|
Actually, the last category 5 hurricane to hit the US was over 21 years ago. As for the category of hurricanes, that only tells you the winds within the eye wall. There are plenty of other factors that make a hurricane destructive, plus, the most destructive part of a hurricane is the storm surge, not the winds.
Ike and Sandy were very destructive hurricanes despite being being low on the Saffir-Simpson scale, which is flawed tbh. Tropical Storm Allison never became a hurricane, but caused plenty of damage in Texas.

Snow and whiteout conditions were contributing factors to the accident, state police said. A band of heavy lake-effect snow was reported Thursday afternoon when the pileup began, dropping 1 to 2 inches of snow per hour and reducing visibility to a quarter-mile or less, National Weather Service meteorologist Evan Bentley said.

Same amount of snow Atlanta got overall getting dropped hourly. Also I see shifting topics from a non-deadly Atlanta traffic jam due to mismanagement by state officials that could have been handled better with a staggered release schedule of traffic to a single deadly car crash. Sounds about right.

The snow isn't the problem. It's the black ice.

I'm 25 (26 soon) and remember Hurricane Andrew quite vividly, thank you! Oh there were category 5 hurricanes, Katrina and Rita (back-to-back), that were cat 5 but downsized to 4's and 3's just as the hit landfall. The coastal parishes of my state got it REAL GOOD. Louisiana got bitch slapped like it was nothing in my senior year of high school, fall 2005.
I did Hurricane Ike and Lily as well, both as low to mild cat 2/3's weren't really anything to sing home about. Katrina still remains unbothered. The damage and impact of that heaux made her one of the deadliest and costly storm to hit the states. 85 billion is a MESS!

Over 800+ kids at my school had to stay the night. Just my school alone. Buses were stranded.
Then the small amount of buses who could get kids were stranded on roads for hours. It was like this everywhere. My mom had to park her car outside our neighborhood and walk home, because our entrance has 50+ cars blocking it.

Maybe they should have been like my school district and cancel school today and tomorrow

You can't live in the south during the spring or summer and not taste a freaking snowball. And no, the ones people buy from the ice cream trucks or stores are NOT THE BUSINESS. A legitimate experience occurs as a corner snowball stand. Snowballs with that sweet condensed milk is everything. Nachos, frito pies, hot dogs, ice cream, chilli cheese fries, and so on. UFFFF I cannot wait for March to get here

Georgia is in State of Emergency.
My mom got off work at 1 p.m. yesterday, called me at 10 p.m. to tell me she was still on the Highway and could not come home til today.
