1990-1996 she did the Contemporary phase, it was popular.

She got divorced and 1997-1999 tried to blend Pop with Urban which was popular at the time.

With Glitter she tried to go completely Urban, and in the early 2000's radio was all Urban. It'll just depend on the quality she does in one era.

But Glitter was associated with a critically panned film, the record being released on 9/11, and terrible press from the TRL "meltdown". Rihanna won't have any of that with her upcoming lead. And I doubt she'd deliver something as subpar as Loverboy (even tho I use a biT).

It's a difference between being featured on a flop single, and having your own era flop fully and being able to comeback.

Rihanna will probably make another ratchet album, slay with first two singles, they'll be forgotten after a week and the era will be dead except she'll do videos here and there but those singles will flop.

The only way she could really flop is if she has bad music planned out for her, but I don't think that's the case.
