We're so thirsty for Kelly news we've resorted to talking about a contestant she mentored, who didn't win, on a flop TV show, 2 years ago, who's new single has under 200 plays online.
So I was thinking how the meaning of the album name AIEW is probably about how 1) the album encompasses a bit of every type of genre reflected by an album cover full of different colors 2) the glittery bubblegum-pop-looking imagery was used to contrast the dark imagery of MD and Kelly got snarky with the title, naming it AIEW to sarcastically say it's actually everything that her label wants (namely, Clive Davis) but not necessarily what she wants. I think she gained weight that era to strike back against them. 3) lastly, while it may seem she has everything she ever wanted on paper, she still hadn't found love or true happiness (like she has now) and there was still so much more she wanted in life that she hadn't yet found.
If you think about it, MLWSWY was a very smart move by Kelly. The name matches the album title in the sense that her life would suck without radio play and general public support (which she lost a lot of during MD). It's sort of a sarcastic way to say, while she hates Clive Davis and the pressures of being the biggest pop star, it's something she needs to do for her career's sake. I thought about how every song could be interpreted to fit the album's themes and how it's a lot more cohesive of an album for me because of that. Kelly is so much more clever and observant of her music, lyrics, and ultimately her career choices than a lot of people give her credit for.
She has become such a bitch since Duets. She lived a couple cities over from me, and was really good friends with my ex. Ever since Duets she has been above everyone and moved to TN because she "has an amazing voice and will be famous" and was above working a regular job.
Didn't she say she only cares for the music she makes? It simply makes no sense for her to go to the places she doesn't want to go. I'm happy as long as the next pop album is actually made of good songs.
I'm not saying she should be going to events just to walk the carpet and be seen and what not, but for things like the Grammys or the AMA's when she's performing and/or nominated, I think it could really benefit her to walk the carpet.

That actually sounds like something she'd do.

I'm pretty sure RCA chose MLWSWY, and it was written after the Breakaway era by Max Martin and Dr. Luke assuming she would collaborate with them immediately afterwards.
Stephen Ferrera, Columbia Records A&R Executive, Dies
Quote:
Stephen Ferrera, senior vice president of A&R at Columbia Records, died on Monday, Jan. 27 in New York. The cause of death was lung cancer, according to a statement by the Sony Music label.
A graduate of the New England Conservatory of Music and the Julliard School, where he studied percussion, his career as a record executive was preceded by years spent as an accomplished musician, songwriter and producer.
Ferrera's work in A&R began at Chrysalis Group UK's The Echo Label. He then went on to hold senior A&R positions at RCA Music Group, where he was a key player in bringing in the American Idol franchise, Island Def Jam, and Columbia, where he spent the last years of his career.
Didn't Kelly change some of the lyrics though? And even if MLWSWY was fully written by Martin and Luke, she still probably had at least some say of what songs makes or doesn't make the album. Kelly was disregarded a lot artistically, but she still had some say on things.

In an interview with Clive and Luke they said Kelly changed a few lyrics. And then Kelly went on to say she made it more "her". Some of the original lyrics were not her style and didn't fit. I THINK there was even a pot smoking reference in MLWSWY demo ... If I remember correctly.
Random: Why does no one on Idol or any of the other singing competition shows ever sing BOY or SUBG but WDKY, BTHE, BA, etc get covered all the time. I think I read somewhere they were banned? Can anyone confirm this?
Idk about the US but SUBG was sung a few years ago by some gurl on Australian Idol (Xfactor?) and BOY is quite popular singing-competitions song here in the Czech Republic.
