I think you're referring to partial-birth abortion, which has been banned for quite some time now. Even though it does occur on rare occasions, like any crime, it's a completely different vile procedure than a basic abortion.

People who think that abortions are the easy way out need to google Gerri Santoro (warning for the pictures you might see). That's the reality for a lot of women, even today.

I'm not really sure how much it matters, but when I did a paper on this last year, I read a really interesting study on the psychological effects of abortion upon the mother's partner, when he chose to remain committed to the relationship. The father is definitely a part of the equation and definitely matters in the decision, but I still think that the mother's feelings matter far, far more than any other issue.

Actually it makes complete sense.

When a man is expecting a child, it has the possibility of changing him. He becomes connected to that child or that "parasite" as you like to call it. unlike most of the animal kingdom, (and probably penguins) fathers actually build a emotional connection with a child theyre expecting.

Now imagine the mother going off to an abotrion clinic and killing it, because it's "her body" and "her choice".
