The only reason people have problems with imagining mothers being sexy is that they have their own personal hangups about thinking of their mom being sexy. And the only reason why people have hangups about their mothers being sexy is because society has dictated that mothers (and women in general) should act chastely and should not let their sexuality come forward. But if you grew up in a home where your mother wore a bikini and danced provocatively as she cleaned, you would not flinch at it because it would be your normal.

Parents can filter the content that they see, in correspondence to the PG rating. If Beyoncé's performance truly went too far some households, a simple click of a button could take the family couch to another channel.

I still don't understand your "bu-bu-but CBS!" argument when THE GOOD WIFE airs at 8 PM. CBS isn't a network strictly for children. I thought this was established!

And what does this prove? That the movie MAY contain parts that are unsuitable for children and that it is up to the parent's guidance to allow or disallow their kids from watching it? Yes? K great, so parents please guide your children to the Grammys or from the Grammys. It's on you. It's not on Beyonce, CBS or your neighbour down the street.

I wonder if the arguments about what is and what is not appropriate for the broadcast are outside the scope of the discussion, because the producers of the show likely previewed the performance beforehand and signed off on it? This is the same network that signed off on Nickis use of alter boys praying before strippers, mind you. Plus the OP made this thread based on comments on this site, not because of some op-ed or interview somewhere of Beyoncé being lambasted about the appropriateness of performance because she's a mother.
