I disagree. Kacey has not actually really been embraced by the Country Music public. The Industry and the critics, yes. But the Country Music GP have simply not been there for Kacey. People in this base say Tay needs acceptance in the Country community but Kacey is the one who is not selling records.
Despite all those awards, nominations and hyped up reviews, Kacey's album has only sold 300k after 8 months. Begin Again is regarded as an underperforming single, and yet Kacey has never had a single sell as well as that. She only has 1 single with a Gold Cert.
Kacey's singles also have not really smashed on Country Radio either. The Country Music GP is just not buying Kacey's music. They've had ample chance to after seeing her on the ACMs, CMT awards, CMA awards and ACA awards but have not done so. Same Trailer, Different Park will probably get Gold but Platinum looks doubtful to me. It's weird but she is just not selling.
Red has literally sold more than ten times as many copies as Same Trailer, Different Park, and that's only counting US sales. Collaborating with Taylor could give Kacey what she is missing - a smash hit that people actually buy.
There will be no backlash against Taylor for working with Kacey. She got a 'backlash' from working with Max Martin and moving away from Country sound. Taylor moving back more into Country is what Nashville hopes to see. The only people really against it are Carriefans posters who want Taylor to leave Country for good so Carrie Underwood can be the best seller again.
