That's a down right insult to COAD. ARTPOP has one standout track, DWUW, all the other songs have zero replay value and are melodically subpar. It's a bunch of overproduced noise. COAD is an impeccably constructed dancepop album with an incredibly strong trio of songs leading the album, there is NO comparison.

ARTPOP doesn't hold up well at all, Prism is way better and has a lot more to offer. And LOL @ people saying ARTPOP was risky.

No, Prism slays Artpop

ARTPOP feels like an experience, music designed to get you pumping your fists whilst high on MD in some sleazy German sex club. It's jarring, incoherent and tries to do WAY too much. Gaga wanted this to be a dance album to end all dance albums and ends up feeling a little forced. Prism is much more consistent and serves as a nice little CD to plug into your stereo when your driving home from work but it's so bloody forgettable. ARTPOP, regardless of your personal opinion is an album that's very difficult to forget. It's obnoxious, self referential and not something your going to play on a rainy Sunday afternoon... but it's interesting. Prism just, well isn't.

Prism feels like a pre packaged pop album that just required some attractive pop singer to churn out some vocals and call it a day. That's not SUCH a bad thing, Britney's albums have the exact same feel but somehow manage to be good. It's catchy, gooey sympathetic pop that offers up some really nice gems, Walking on Air, Dark Horse, Legendary Lovers, Roar, Birthday and This is How We Do do their jobs very very well. But it's totally afraid to play with the unexpected and try something new. ARTPOP does that, some of it ends up being amazing (Venus, Aura, Applause) some of it just doesn't work (Fashion!, J&D, MJH, MANiCURE, Swine).

ARTPOP's ambition is it's biggest downfall, whereas PRISM didn't have any at all.

Overall: I like both, but I think ARTPOP is just much, much better.

Please tell me how Venus, Gypsy, Sex Dreams, Artpop, DWUW, and Manicure are "overproduced noise"?
And WHAT does Prism have to offer? besides generic, basic sounds that all sound the same, cliched lyrics, and bland vocals?

Prism deserved higher, but critics hate Katy.

PRISM could never touch ARTPOP

ARTPOP is much better. Prism has 2-3 good songs, which is more than I was expecting. Neither is out of this world, but ARTPOP is better sonically and lyrically. And of course vocally.
