Um, no. The reason we assume that the music of past generations is better is because with time all the bad stuff is filtered out and we remember the good stuff of each respective generation. If you look at the charts from forty, fifty years ago, they were dominated by just as much lowbrow, forgettable pop music as they are today. It's not as if the sixties or seventies or any other generation had inherently more talented musicians, it's just that we've forgotten, for the most part, all the one hit wonders and the crappy music from those eras. Bands like The Beatles or artists like Jimi Hendrix weren't the norm, they were the exception, which is what made them so special. I'd say the 2010's are no exception, if you rely on charts and the mainstream as anything besides a pop culture barometer and think that the microscopic selection of music on the charts indicates the quality of music as a whole, you're a fool and being willfully ignorant. If anything, with the Internet it's easier for incredibly talented artists who might lack the marketability of pop acts to get their music out to people.

Long story short, there's still plenty of incredible music out there if you look for it and don't just rely on the top 10 of iTunes or the Billboard Top 40 to tell you what to listen to.

In every decade, there are people who say the music has hit an all time low. Happened with psychedelic rock in the 60s, disco in the 70s, new wave in the 80s, bubblegum pop in the 90s, hip hop in the 2000s, and EDM in the 2010s. Also, every decade seems to look back twenty years and think that whichever decade was that far in the past had the best music. I remember everyone thought that the 80s had the best music 10 years ago, and in the 90s that the 70s had the best. Now, it's all about the 90s.

To answer your question, no. Have you even heard half the awful ringtone rap/filler-pop music from the 2000s? I was old enough to experience all of it and it was as cheesy then as it is now.
