Is the overall music quality of 2010s, the lowest EVER?
Is the decade of the 2010s the lowest for overall music quality ever?
I mean lets go back a bit...
1960s with The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Supremes, Aretha
1970s with David Bowie, The Clash, Queen, Donna Summer
1980s with Michael Jackson, Madonna, Prince, Bruce Springsteen
1990s with Bjork, Mariah Carey, Nirvana, Alanis Morissette
2000s with [Insert Your Fave Here]
2010s with... ?
It is 2014 and no one has emerged that is on par with the others.
I think music has hit an all time low in terms of talent. And I'm obviously referring to mainstream or at least somewhat known music, do not come in here with your irrelevant indie favorites that 100 people have heard of. Where are the main talents of the 2010s decade?
I assume this question was asked every decade, always being compared unfavourably to the last.
There will be a time when people look back on this decade and think how much more talented, diverse, etc the artists of today were compared to the pop artists in the future.
So no, I don't think the overall music quality has declined this decade. Wait until the filler of this decade fades from our memory, leaving the biggest hits and 'masterpieces' like the other decades have done.
Nope.
Clearly you had a great concentration of highly talented artists in the 90s and other past eras.
The visibility of these artists was much more clearer, though, being that I feel that there was a greater appreciation for various forms of music.
There are artists out now that are just as brilliant in their artistry, if not more so, as the artists of yesterday.
The 10s has been my favorite era of music, so far. You just have to venture outside of the mainstream to find it.
In 10 years time the teens of that decade will be saying **** like "The 2010's was the era of real music. One Direction etc etc are REAL artists". Happens every era. Rinse and repeat.
Interesting that you forgot to cite cyndi lauper in your 80s list after making that thread about ha
Anyway, this new generation is brimming with talent. Idk how you can dismiss thie 2010s when we have ke$ha, selena gomez, etc. They will be more remembered than aretha, etc.
