Alternate, and look away every once in while.

i look at them for 3 seconds then look to the ground then look at them again then look to the ground again

I don't know and I don't care I just make sure to look at their eyes and not at my feet. That's rude and awkward and I hope no one votes for that option.

I just noticed this when I was talking to my professor in class the other day. I looked at their left eye (me looking slightly right). I alternate between looking in the eye and glancing away. I don't know why I do this, I wish I could just continuously look at the person.
