The difference being that Fiona and LaLaurie further the plot, while the pedophile and Christian neighbor do not. Doing a 13-episode arc is like writing a short story: every detail should be important.

Nah I certainly don't think it's awful, there have been plenty of entertaining moments. But from a storytelling perspective, it's just not as strong as I know AHS is capable of

I can't myself re-watching it too often like Asylum and Murder House.
A bit too much style over substance this year tbh.
