I had no idea that one single not performing massively means that she's not successful. This is Shakira. She's always been one of the biggest pop stars in the world, and is already pretty much an icon. That cannot be destroyed.
Mariah's singles flopping also don't destroy the fact that she's a huge successful star. The same applies to Madonna, Xtina, or any pop star that has cemented their place as a legend in the music industry.
