Yes but that's what she gets for wanting to "grow as an artist". She could have smashed with The Fame Monster 2.0 but she chose this path instead. Oh well. She still has a hanful of huge hits.
We don't even need to bring up the time difference.
Erotica, Flop?
It's always surprising to me to level of knowledge some people have.
Erotica was an album that came out that dealt with sex, aids etc etc at a time where the world was against those things. A time when associating yourself with those things HURT your career.Eroticas sound was also different to what was then mainstream.
Artpop is an EDM album about sex fashion and drugs that came out during a time when sex fashion and drugs are celebrated in the media and a time where EDM produces hit after hit.
The difference in erotica vs ARTPOP is erotica was taboo at the time and artpop should be cultivated. It's not, because people are over her.
This has become a massive problem. Gaga is desperately trying to break away from Madonna's shadow but her fans don't let her. You're doing lady gaga a disservice guys. No one can live in Madonna's shadow. No one has been able to re produce her success. Every time lady gaga is mentioned, bringing Madonna into it only HURTS her, it seems to be a shadow she can't escape and a shadow that bothers her.
If artpop is the beginning of the end we can point the finger in one direction, the direction of her fans.
I think so. GP has clearly lost interest considering 'DWUW' didn't become a hit despite its obvious potential.
The only way she can recover is if they wrap up the era NOW to save face, lock her in the studio with a proper team of producers AND writers and release the lead single of the next album by September to capitalize on the pretty healthy radio power she still has.
Critics hated her 4th release, her chart success was underwhelming, she parted ways with her label, went indie for some years and then later had a huge comeback and she's been ruling ever since
