They judge Windows 8 because of its new Metro design when in reality, they can choose not to use it and disable it. It's pretty stupid for people to judge something after only 5 minutes of usage. It's an embarrassment that people are too away on embracing new tech and are too shady on Microsoft.

I loved Windows 7 & XP though. Heck, I loved Vista as well.
It's more than just the design though. It's a whole bundle of things for me.
Firstly, I had NO issues when using the developer preview (not the consumer one). Everything worked fine for me (in terms of performance).
But when I got Windows 8 a lot of my programs became unusable. Most of my games would take ages to load and I had a lot of glitches when using programs that were memory hogs (I had 16GB of Ram though).
Games like COD or GTA would load black screens instead of cutscenes yet I could play them on my Mac perfectly (and my Mac has 1/2 the specs). And the lag and slight freezing was super annoying. My computer used to be really good but it was just a joke.
I booted up a portable HDD with Windows 7 and the games then worked perfectly. Windows 8 they didn't.
Also Metro apps opening normal files even though I defaulted Desktop apps to run them. Things like photos and music files. Drove me insane. Just flicking from Metro and Desktop was also a pain.
I could go on but they were the most problems I had with W8. I loved all the Windows before it but this was crap. Especially when Mac OS can run everything 100% and in half the time. And thanks to Wine, I play all my PC games quite fine (except one called Glare, it is glitchy as hell using Wine).
When W9 comes out, I will give it a try. But W8 is a horrible OS.
