Because as good as Adele may be , the only way for us to judge Diane is her previous songs(or her most popular ones rather) . Can you really blame us for doing that when its the only way to have an idea of what it'll be like ?

The problem is you completely knock out Adele from the equation. Diane's songs have also become classic hits for many artists so I don't see where the problem is
