Some of the most brightest scholars who contribute to such magazines are American
Secondly, America is a developed nation and their problems are different then rest of the regions .. North America doesn't have high level of poverty or terrorism which the other part of the world have hence the cover for those parts are different

As an American though, I do agree that our educational system is really lacking compared to many countries, so perhaps the general population isn't as intelligent. But TIME magazine covers probably aren't a good indicator of that. TIME readers are a self-selecting group; the same group of "smart" people will continue to read a "smart" magazine like TIME regardless of the cover.

Just because you and your family are idiots doesn't mean the rest of America is.
