Even though I totally agree with you, I feel like R.Kelly was a genius yet messy addition to the song. In one way it's genius because we know what he's done in the past but as artists they are two very hard working people in the industry who have gone under a lot of critical fire. But the tragedy is that he has obviously rubbed people the wrong way. No one's going to want to see him in a video all over Gaga's body. Interscope should have still released the video but without R.Kelly. I agree, I'm also over the album campaign, I just want to see the tour and move on to the next.
that's very true, and their voices sound amazing together. I wish his team had done major MAJOR damage control around the height of his legal troubles, and that he would've changed his musical direction to not sing about sex so much now that r. kelly and pedophilia are practically synonymous then maybe the public would have been a tad bit more welcoming. alternatively, interscope could've had her shoot the video for her solo version of the song and just released that but that makes too much sense so obviously it wouldn't happen
I don't really care if Gaga is over or not she's still doing well commercially, but has declined, I agree. But that's not all that matters, I just want good music and nice music videos back and I'll be happy. It's not like I stan for the most commercially successful artists since I'm a Ke$ha and Marina And The Diamonds stan, but ARTPOP only has like 5 outstanding tracks and that's what bothers me. I'm still seeing what happens though, since she still has the potential to make amazing music

I've mostly switched over to the Xtina version of DWUW. I love R Kelly's verse, but I had no idea the true extent of his crimes till recently (and it seems Gaga didn't either, she should've been smarter about it all )... I like having a guilt-free version of DWUW.

My mom is like that. Whenever she hears R.Kelly's voice she cringes and she changes the station or she just doesn't really want to hear it. He disgusts her.

It's kind of funny that my intention was to leave before Applause came out to avoid that happening to me. And yet I ended up staying positive about the whole ordeal and others well..... not so much!
That is precisely the frightening thing. It is one of her best ever, and she could not transform it into a hit. Makes you think what song is needed for her to have a hit in 2014.
