True. The OP didn't have any kind of question for discussion like "have you ever been told by anyone 'I don't like Black People'". That would be my best prediction for its closure, but I agree the conversation should be allowed to have

I agree. The whole reason for me creating that thread was to start a discussion plus I needed a place to vent and share my story, I'm pretty sure other members would discuss the topic share similar situations they have encountered with and not make me feel so lonely

Yes. I'm pretty sure a mod said no in here once before (maybe a rule was changed or it became a higher priority,) but I've seen Warning Received on posts with those types of phrases in there.

I don't know personally why it was closed, but I imagine it was a preemptive measure. It takes a ton of constant moderation to operate a race-related thread smoothly, because there is unfortunately still a lot of ignorance on ATRL (much of it trolling, but some very real). It likely would have ended up becoming difficult to manage and I imagine that was the rationale behind its early closure. It would probably work better in blogs, I think.

Rihmix is probably okay in certain contexts, since Rihanna herself has used that. The others are just annoying and pointless, so please don't.

Oh, yes, that "rih" thing. I do think many "rih" words fit the definition of nicknames closely enough for a moderator to warn if he or she so chooses. I'm not experienced enough on this particular issue to give concrete answers, but as Supa said, it's best to avoid most of that usage in general.

The nicknames rule in general is intentionally made slightly vague; trying to skirt around it could always end up in warnings. However, it may not be considered warnable at all by many mods.

closing a thread because it might get messy is not a valid reason. I was not trying to troll or start a thread with a bunch of warnable post. All I wanted was to share my story and se if any other members have faced the same problems based on their skin color or sexuality. I even posted that.

Just because there are ignorant people on this site it doesn't mean that threads that discus racism/discrimination and the problems people face daily should be closed. That's like telling a bullied child not to speak about being bullied.

I think the rule should be reconstructed a bit to include any variation of name mangling. I'm not accusing anyone of this, but where it currently stands, the only time that a rih___ type thing gets warned is when the moderator is annoyed by it. If the mod isn't annoyed by it then it gets dismissed, resulting in people not being completely sure what the rules are. I know the moderators have a right to choose if something is warnable or not and it differs from mod to mod; but a definite outline would be nice.

If the rule had been extended to include all variations of name mangling then we would have never gotten into the LaLingo mess. Also, sorry about posting rih__ all over the place. That was kinda childish, but it's annoying seeing certain people get away with stuff whilst others get warned.
