Discussion: Why Is Britney Always Snubbed?

I like Britney but she only had popularity, never respect. Her image was too sexy and lacked substance, so it never seemed like she was in control of her sexuality, but instead looked like she was just selling sex. And at least with other pop girls, there is at least the illusion that contribute heavily during the musical process, but it was never that way with Britney. She was just selling a fantasy. There is a reason why artists like Britney, Katy Perry (although she's trying to change it)Rihanna, and J-Lo don't have the respect that their peers do.

She makes great music for the masses but none of it is exactly award worthy, saying that in the sense that award shows don't look at that type of music much.

I always hear people say that but is she actually snubbed? Apart from exceptions like the grammys i dont think she's really that snubbed, I mean she was won more than 400 awards. The only females to have achieved that in music are Janet, Mariah, Whitney and Beyonce (if we include awards from her DC days). Not that bad imo.

Dubstep was 8 years old before Britney first used it. Your fave has records in R&B, pop, etc., all genres that existed well over 50 years before your fave won it. Why would dubstep be "tired" when it never even really happened before Britney?

Excuse me, but Britney performed with Aerosmith, Madonna and Michael Jackson in a timeline of 2 years. Barbra Streisand, Cher, Celine Dion, Mariah Carey, Janet Jackson, Elton John have all aknowledged her in a good way in the past and more and more young pop girls list her as an inspiration (Marina, Lana, Selena, Demi, Miley, Katy, Gaga, Adele, Rihanna etc) and her peers (JLO, Beyonce, Xtina, JT, Shakira) all have nothing but words to say about Britney. She's also the youngest in age artist to receive a special award at the VMAs and the youngest artist to achieve 25 Top 10 singles Worldwide. She IS respected by the industry, the ones that dont respect her are the actual people/fans.

She has never been snubbed at the Grammys. She just hasn't been the best in those categories.

Because she's not known nor popular for her talent, so even if many awards are based on popularity, for her to win a whole bunch of awards or even garner lots of nominations it would really make the awards seem like they are appreciating the talents of someone that most people realize has little.

yes IA that she couldnt have won 100 Grammys but 1? Dont deny there's some snubbing there. With iconic songs such as BOMT, Toxic, Oops and Womanizer she could have won at least 5 more. +1 for HIAM (it brought dubstep to mainstream), +1 for Blackout (the most influential album of the its decade by Rolling Stone + added to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame).

All Too Well, Sad Beautiful Tragic, The Last Time, Back To December, State of Grace, etc. are anything but child-ish but each person has their right to their wrong opinion.

The delusion in this thread... :shaken:
First of all, to say that a Grammy nomination is earned based off of talent alone is ridiculous. If that was the case, people like Ariana Grande definitely would have received a nod this year. To say that sales and popularity don't play a role is ridiculous too. If they didn't, songs like "Call Me Maybe" never would have received nominations. There are obviously politics involved with the Grammy awards, and there are obviously Grammy favorites like Bey and Adele. The fact is that Britney was never a Grammy favorite, especially during her early years, when she was overshadowed by Christina. They finally gave her one for "Toxic", but I think that was more them just throwing her a bone than actually recognizing the song.
Honestly, I'm just glad that Britney has her one Grammy, which is one more than many artists have. It's obvious that she doesn't care how many Grammy awards she has, so why should I? Nevertheless, people should stop calling Britney a puppet, because she has contributed a lot to her career, she just doesn't like taking credit for it. If Britney hadn't exerted her influence, "Baby One More Time" would have had a cheesy superhero video and "Toxic" wouldn't have been the second single from "In the Zone". She's written plenty of great songs, and hasn't taken credit for many songs she has written on. She also plays the piano, while many artists can't play one instrument. And Britney didn't get signed because she was a pretty face or a good dancer, she got signed because she could sing.
P.S. - People should also stop picking on Taylor's songwriting. Her lyrics may not always have the deepest meaning, but she writes songs that a lot of people can relate to. She deserves credit for writing so much so early into her career.

Britney, P!nk and Christina (she has her vocal performances but she doesn't have the big awards) are always ignored at the awards. It's annoying.
