Tech: HP pays Win8 dust, stans for Win7

"We have been offering Windows 7 since Windows 8 became available, and we will continue to offer a broad set of choices for our customers," said a company spokesperson.

Windows 8 has received a mixed reception since its launch in 2012, with sections of the industry criticising its blend of tablet and desktop functionality.

Microsoft has since overhauled several of the software's features with the launch of the Windows 8.1 update, reintroducing the Start button and boot-to-desktop option. (source)

Windows 7 is just simpler. People don't want to be confused with all these extra tiles nonsense esp. if it's their first computer.

When they stop making hardware stealing-proof desktops and laptops, I will stan for them.

They have some of the most annoying and absurd computers do dismantle or change hardware.

Microsoft is getting destroyed by the media everywhere... Xbone scandals, IE, Windows 8 (the OS) and Surface/smartphone sales. I actually feel bad for them, they can't catch a break.

I tried Win 8.1 for like 2 months and... As someone who uses his desktop for browsing + gaming, Windows 7 is better in just about everything. Doing the most simple tasks and just using apps all around takes longer in Windows 8, and you can tell by using it that the Metro UI wasn't designed to be used with a mouse.

I still think Windows 8 is actually really good for the Surface.

I have my Lumia because it's Nokia, everybody who bought one was because of that, which is why you don't see Omnias, Huawei and HTC WPs in the wild.
WP8 is really enjoyable. It's a breeze actually, I reckon though that non-touch devices would be really awkward, but fow what it is, it's really nice for touchscreens,

Windows 8 is better on phones. Windows 8 is **** on computers unless you wanna pay an extra $200~500 for a touchscreen computer

Windows 8 is not at all difficult to understand. Is it really that hard to switch out of tile view?

I actually do not think the OS is bad at all.

The interface is best suited for tablets/touch screens though, that I will agree with.
