-Mariah had the best catalogue of Top 10’s, consistent and they are as good as her #1’s even better. Six 10s out of her Nine Top 10 songs. Obsessed could be a 10 but it lacks something. Never Forget You is average. And Lover Boy can get out first for all I care. Lol
-Half of Madonna’s Top 10 are trash tbh. A couple of gems and the rest are average. Frozen, Cherish and 4minute are the highlights.
- As I expected, Whitney Houston got what she deserved.
- I was a bit disappointed with Janet. I expected more especially with 15 top 10s but I only use less than half of it. Someone to Call My Lover is such a great bop!
- Now Celine was the biggest shock for me, I expected her to flop in this rate but her songs are really gooooooood. 4 out of 6 were 10s, that’s something. Even better than ma queen in average. (But that’s because Celine has fewer Top 10s than MC but still, a lot of us underestimated her greatly. #Dark Horse

nn You gave Mariah more 10s than I did overall.
I'm with you on Obsessed and Loverboy. LB is great to dance around to when you're in the mood, but in general it's not that great of a song.

4 Minutes was one of the 3 10s I gave to Madge. It still sounds so fresh and is great to bop to. Frozen was a 10 for me too- I can't really describe the sensation I get when I listen to it. Easily some of her best work.

Lots of 10s?

Someone To Call My Lover is a great song, for sure. I've always found the All for You album to be a bit lackluster, but the singles were FLAWLESS. I think STCML flies under the radar for a lot of people, but it's personally one of my favourite 2000 JJ songs.
It's like walking on a line of burning coals to get to Heaven.

Gosh, Madonna's earlier work sounds the same. Kinda reminds me of Lady Gaga with that generic 80s bops. And WTF is this hank Panky!? RIIP. But Wait Cherish and Frozen slays. An easy 10 for me.
The girl likes a good spanky, anything wrong with being a bit of S&M? But you better appreciate those classics

I didn't give too many of Madge's songs a score above 5.

Janet got really good rates from me, but four of her songs got a score below 3.
All from the same era too.
I think I won't like you tbh

"just top 10s" but she got the most of them Except for Mariah here, she has also the most #1s but w/e, queen stays unbothered
Wait Posh - you really think Madonna's 80s songs are terrible?
Oh, that's so misguided.
Everyone knows that Madonna peaked, quality wise, around 1991.
With the exception of Express Yourself, all were subpar up until the ROL era.
Which is weird for me to say because I'm actually a huge fan of 80s pop, but there's just something about Madonna's songs that don't quite hit the mark. They all seem so uninspired and boring. There are quite a few of Madge's songs from that time frame that I love, but most of them weren't top 10s. + it doesn't help that she sounds like she's talking rather than singing for half of these songs, and I'm not here for that.

I really think you should listen again.

I mean, every single one of those singles is a 4 if not 5 star affair. Just pop legend, and the reason Madonna IS Legend. It's not because of 4 Minutes or Hung Up or Frozen, let me tell you that much. Nobody's going to a Madonna showing hoping Frozen is being performed. Let's put that out there right now.
Now, if you had said songs like Causing a Commotion or True Blue were trash, I would agree with you - they are trash, and both caused her best song Where's the Party not to be released as a single. But everything else is golden, and beyond reproach.

These are songs that I know I don't like. I've given Madonna's discography multiple listens on multiple occasions, I just can't fully get into it the way that I'd like to. Of course, I can't deny the legacy of her 80s collection- there's certainly no debate about that. Out of all these girls Madonna has been the most influential and had the biggest impact in pop culture. Unfortunately, there's just something about her lackluster production and powerless operatic vocals that turn me off completely.
The thing with songs like Express Yourself, Like A Prayer and Open Your Heart is that I'm almost positive I'd like them regardless of who sang them. There's nothing particularly amazing about Madonna's performance of them, it's more so just the tone and production that captures me. When Madonna slows down with songs like Live to Tell and Cherish, I tend to step away because it does nothing for me.
Again, they are all classic songs and most of them are undoubtedly iconic in some way. They just aren't for me, and I chose to do this rate based on personal taste.
