Racism will never die. And as a black man, I've seen most racists are "brought up that way", so I assume said racists are idiots because everyone has their own mind; live by your own experiences, not what you're told...

It feels like everyday someone is being panned as a racist by late teen to early 20-somethings getting off on pretending to be socially conscious when all they're doing is shopping for clothes and following the lives of celebrities. Its like being socially conscious is this eras trendiest accessory. Which is why all they ever really get passionate whining about is dissecting a quote, usually by some celebrity they already didn't like, to find something that could be considered offensive to somebody.
They really feel like they're seeing things from an enlightened point of view which trips me out because all these people do are trash using faux-intellectual social rants, completely ignoring the fact that human beings are not one dimensional, should not be defined by a singular statement, and that even though sometimes people may say stupid **** it doesn't make them a bad person, it doesn't mean they can't change if need be, and it doesn't mean they should be branded as something so viciously slanderous.

It's about equity, it's about bringing everyone up to the same starting point.

The user you responded to needs to read a book instead of speaking about things he or she clearly has no understanding of.

My comment wasn't even about her quote but about the plethora of randoms in here hacking on about racism when they know nothing about social issues or racism.
I read her quote and no one wants to see a white woman, especially a republican, say don't use the race card. And I don't want to see her say not to use the race card. I don't think anyone should say that. But what I will say is that I do believe that neutrality is equality. I think everyone can agree that right now people seem hell bent on like being socially conscious or whatever and supposedly knocking out all these social problems but ultimately all I really see happening are pompous people with their heads up their asses creating a bigger divide because they're constantly arguing about who is the bigger victim instead of just trying to put everyone on an equal playing field.

Slavery didn't stop a lot of blacks from succeeding. If all black/hispanic people continue to enjoy affirmative action, rich blacks/hispanics edges out a lot of poorer black people, and not to mention poor people from other races.
Equity means having a fair playing field. You really mean to tell me that a millionaire black family deserves better treatment in college admissions than a below 20k a year Asian family simply because his ancestors were enslaved? (or in many cases, where schools look for anyone who is black, he may not even have been enslaved, but is just an immigrant from Ethiopia, South Africa, etc).

Yes, we'll just go on with the rose colored glasses daily acting like anyone who looks remotely Arab, black, Asian, or Hispanic doesn't get systematically discriminated against and live happily ever after!

She is so ****ing dumb, I hate to say it but the fact that she was nearly allowed to be co-executive in the running of one of the biggest nations is just beyond me.

Even if people do lead vapid, shallow lives, being socially conscious is never a bad thing. If people who know better don't call out these high profile people when they say something incorrect or ignorant, others may think it's okay. There is nothing wrong with educating people about why their perspectives are an issue and need to be examined.
