According to ATRL not going #1 is a flop. You can have a top 5 platinum single like GaGa and it's still considered a flop and your career is over so if it doesn't go #1 then people's opinions wouldn't change.
Drunk In Love was a horrible choice for a lead single tho. She should have chosen Pretty Hurts.
For years the standard was top 15, but she crossed that, so it's being moved up. Once she gets that top 10 it'll be #1 or she's an "irrelevant flop". Once she gets that #1 it has to remain there for so many weeks that it breaks Mariah's record or she's still "incapable of getting a hit single". However if it isn't certified diamond she's pretty much "over".

Nah. If it goes top 10, they'll say it didn't go number 1. If it goes number 1, they'll say she didn't do it by herself so it doesn't count. If it goes number 1 for multiple weeks, they'll say it's not a worldwide number 1, so it doesn't matter lol.
