Relationships that operate the other way tend not to last very long. But y'all are gay so why do you care so much?

It's not wrong per se. I acknowledge your point of view and respect it, even if I don't agree. However, you need to realise that these are not biological predetermined behaviours, they are the result of a specific social environment and were largely influenced by the way western societies worked for decades, if not centuries. The patriarchal model is not more natural than any other and there is no reason for it to be set in stone.

In a growing number of society's there is both maternity and paternity leave. It is important for fathers to help raise a child they helped make. Numerous studies have shown benefits for both the parents and children when both parents take time off. I don't have the energy to research them all again. Why should your future wife rely on your income? What happens if you get fired, sick, or God forbid die or divorce?

That person is called the submissive person in the relationship, and that tends to be the female with straight couples

There is such a thing as compromise, you know? Do you seriously feel emasculated if you compromise with a girlfriend?

The line between "bitching" and "discussion" is very grey. Also, let's not stereotype people and say we are all bitching.
The post you replied to was far from "bitching".

I'm entitle to 10 days of maternity leave btw. As for your last question, I have nothing against females being independent and making their own money, she can be as rich as she wants. But as I said, when it's time to sit down and raise the kids, realistically how much is she going to be working when taking care of the children? We can't be equal in every way, everyone has their duty. I don't see how that makes a women inferior. I've debated to many grown women about this with your point of view but it's very idealistic and I learned that it's not even practical in most cases.

That must be ATRL's favorite word
Generally this thread is comprised of a whole bunch of bitching, not just singling out one specific post.

But in the big decisions, there are usually no nuances/alternatives, and the person who has the overruling power is the dominating member of that relationship and that person rarely changes. Well I would hate it if it changes all the time for me, because as I said, I don't want no woman to give me headache.

READ.
AND.
UNDERSTAND.
This is the exactly whats wrong with the world. People arent READING and understanding. Nothing he said there was racist or even implied anything against black people. If you actually read the actual quote and internalize it, to find it hateful you either have be on an agenda or a complete moron.
This is the exact quote:
Quote:
"Where we lived was all farmers. The blacks worked for the farmers. I hoed cotton with them. I'm with the blacks, because we're white trash," he said. "They're singing and happy. I never heard one of them, one black person, say, ‘I tell you what: These doggone white people’—not a word!... Pre-entitlement, pre-welfare, you say: Were they happy? They were godly; they were happy; no one was singing the blues.”

Who are you to distinguish bitching from conversation? You were stereotyping in sense that you said everyone one side of an issue is bitching with no reference to the otherside.
I think "bitching" is a privileged person's favorite word. You wouldn't call it bitching if you were in the minority.

Honey, you are looking at the word compromise all wrong. If both sides compromise, no one is "submitting" to the other. How is it so hard to believe that a couple can make decisions together that both are happy with? They're called a couple for a reason. It's two people.

The whole thing is racist.

The entire bolded says they were happy before. He saying he never saw a black person mistreated. Well, he is a straight, white male, so he probably doesn't know what mistreatment is. Do I have to post videos/pics of blacks protesting?
The italics is bad too. It's suggesting that all black people are on entitlement and welfare and that somehow ruins them more.

What do you mean by compromise then? Some decisions are A and B and no C. If a decision is made, someone HAS obviously submitted

Maybe I'm taking this quote in the wrong context but it sounds to me like he is saying "blacks should stop complaining". What was he trying to achieve exactly? Cos it sounds racist to me...

I know there's 50 pages of this but from just reading a few comments how could you possibly call this a "reach" or interpret this in any way that is not homophobic? Like would you really think he was saying "Yeah I literally just love families and happy people"
Let me leave though cuz this discussion has gotten way too intense
