I can imagine how much bigger Mirrors could have been if released as the lead single. Suit & Tie is certainly a grower. I hated it at first
And I've only recently stated warming up to Blood On The Leaves. That part where he twists Nina's "leaves" to make it sound like "please" kinda irritated me for a long time and it keeps repeating over and over so many times throughout. The song could be a 20 out of 10 for me without that part.

12. Suplexes Inside of Complexes and Duplexes (feat. Jay Electronica)
13. Remember
14. Someone Like You
15. Aquarium
16. Youforia
17. Goosebumpz
18. O.K. (feat. Tyler, The Creator)
19. Claymation (feat. Vinny Radio)
Standout: Avian, I'm Not Real, S.D.S., I Am Who Am, Red Dot Music, Someone Like You
I can't even call this a guilty pleasure because I'm not ashamed that I liked it so much but I'd call a pleasant surprise. Sonically the production on every track is great even though it's probably a few songs too long. I've really opened up to his delivery, artistry and take him more serious as a rapper than when I did during his debut "Blue Slide Park". The most underrated, overlooked rap album of the year. Surprisingly my favorite rap album of the year of 2013 (at least from the few that I've heard).

Skylar Grey – Don't Look Down (2013)
1. Back From The Dead [feat. Big Sean, Travis Barker]
2. Final Warning
3. Wear Me Out
4. Religion
5. C'mon Let Me Ride [feat. Eminem]
6. Only Thing I Hear

8. Pulse
9. Glow In The Dark
10. ****, Man! [feat. Angel Haze]
11. Clear Blue Sky
12. Tower (Don't Look Down)
13. White Suburban
Standout: Back From The Dead, Wear Me Out, Only Thing I Hear, Pulse, White Suburban
Ever since her demos, big hits she wrote and collaborations she had in 2010, I've been anticipating for a debut album for two years, and finally we got it. Good thing we didn't have an album full of "C'mon Let Me Ride" - that was so misleading. That was just silly and obnoxious, I like "Don't Look Down"'s ive. It gives me very chilled out, '90's pop/rock over some hip-hop influenced production.

3. Royals
4. Ribs
5. Buzzcut Season
6. Team
7. Glory and Gore
8. Still Sane
9. White Teeth Teens
10. A World Alone
1. Hey Now
2. Stay Awake
3. Shyer

12. Help
13. Darling Are You Gonna Leave Me
14. Help Me Lose My Mind
15. High Life
16. Maybe
17. When We Were Young
Standout: Shyer, Wasting My Young Years, Sights, Strong, Flickers, Maybe
"If You Wait" is graceful, sophisticated and emotive record. The album is not jam-packed with variety but its consistent throughout all 11 tracks, including the bonus tracks which some are even better than the standard. The closest I can compare their music to is almost like a Florence Welch singing on a The xx instrumentation; imagine that!

Ariana Grande – Yours Truly (2013)

5. Lovin' It
6. Piano
7. Daydreamin'
8. The Way (feat. Mac Miller)
9. You'll Never Know
10. Almost Is Never Enough (feat. Nathan Skyes)
11. Popular Song (feat. MIKA)
12. Better Left Unsaid
Standout: Baby I, Right There, Tatooed Heart, Lovin' It, Piano, The Way
The voice of the new generation? Just might be. Ariana blows (literally blows, her voice is impeccable) all the Disney or Nickelodeon girls out of the water. "Yours Truly" is truly a bop from start to finish, even when it slows down its still a groove. Mariah and Ashanti should be fuming right now at Babyface for snatching their songs, remixing them and having Ariana sing it as if their legacy never existed.
19.

A$AP Rocky – Long Live A$AP (2013)
1. Long Live A$AP

14. Ghetto Symphony (feat. Gunplay & A$ap Ferg)
15. Angels
16. I Come Apart
Standout: Long Live A$AP, LVL, Wild for the Night, 1Train, Fashion Killa, Suddenly
I said Mac Miller had my favorite rap album of 2013? I lied, I forgot about A$AP for a second. I've know him for years, the dude lives near me and all his street followers and fans and this whole A$AP movement annoyed the crap out of me. He won me over when I checked out this album. I'm now a supporter and I embrace his sound and style of rap, he's really made himself easily distinguishable.
17.
Quadron – Avalanche (2013)
1. LFT
2. Favorite Star
3. Hey Love
4. Crush
5. Befriend
6. Neverland
7. It's Gonna Get You
8. Better Off (feat. Kendrick Lamar)
9. Sea Salt
10. Avalanche
Standout: LFT, Favorite Star, Hey Love, Neverland, Better Off
Charli XCX – What I Like
Charli kinda said it perfectly: "This **** is super wild / This **** is super cool / This **** is kinda gangsta". Nothing more to say, no song in 2013 has been so c*nt, so bad ass, so grunge. It's a pretty straightforward "sex song" that goes hard. The replay button is raped.
009.
CHVRCHES – The Mother We Share
I wasn't as welcoming to "Recover" as I was to "The Mother We Share" for some reason. The sound is so akin to the 1980's pop, the chorus of the song is the high point of the track but everything else is also great stuff. I love the leads voice for starters, I love the vocal chops and echo effects and killer synth lines.
008.
Drake – Hold On, We're Going Home (feat. Majid Jordan)
I had mixed reviews with this song once it first premiered, I was over Drake's attempt to sell pop or anything involving him singing on a track or convincing us that he's 'down' and 'hard'. But like he does all the time... he won me over. Drake really rides this instrumental/beat with his struggled vocals. "Hold On" is so relaxing you have, has a smooth 80s soul sound and is one of the best pop-r&b efforts of 2013.
007.
Janelle Monáe – Q.U.E.E.N. (feat. Erykah Badu)
It's such a bop; a funky track but it's actually a self/female empowerment song. It still maintains an appeal that is enjoyable to both sexes to vibe to and doesn't scare us men away. But this is not all the song is about, Janelle touches on (her) LGBT and acceptance issues - overall behind that funky baseline there's some great messages in the lyrics. During the songs breakdown she is then joined by the Q.U.E.E.N. of neo-soul Erykah Badu before turning into an MC and spitting a rhyme to close up this amazing track.
006.
Kendrick Lamar – Bitch, Don't Kill My Vibe
Let's talk about Gaga real quick? I remember Monsters fumed when Gaga got kicked off this track and said it was his lost, he'll never make it or breakthrough... Now it looks like Gaga could use some help from Kendrick nowadays.
But nah, "Bitch Don't Kill My Vibe" was one of my songs of the summer and songs of his 2012 LP. So many mixture of emotions on this track as it goes from making you feel sentimental to feeling hyphy. It's all due to his ability to go up and down with his varied rhyming patterns. It's a farewell to his old vibe and a celebration to his new vibe and a song about his life, career and his take on the rap game.
so much amazingness on this page, where do I even start
Arctic Monkeys, Skylar, Ariana, Charli love all these albums. I should finally get round to listening to Mac Miller's, I used to like him a lot back when he did Blue Slide Park but then somehow went off of him. Should also check A$AP and Quadron.
4/5 for the singles, all absolute masterpieces I have not heard Janelle's.
