Even the whipping scene was uneventful in terms of Lupita's performance.
I think Chiwetel and Fassbender were more impressive in the whipping scene.
She's going to win though. Her bandwagon is bigger than J-Law's last year and if J-Law wins, her backlash will make Anne's last year look like nothing in comparison. An under 25 year old with two Oscars consecutively. That's a recipe for trouble. Besides, the Academy wants J-Law in for the long run and her losing will help her sustain that. They know Lupita will be forgotten in a few years time. Sad but true

You can't make that distinction, because both Solomon and Epps' motivations and internal conflicts were entirely driven by their relationship to Patsey.

so we want her to win for crying? not for dialogue and the whole performance? i like her and have nothing against her but she didnt do anything special in 20 yas imo. rooting for fassbender, mcqueen, & chiwetel (or leo ) though. lupita? meh. (i'm pretty sure she's going to win anyways even though i think julia is the most deserving)
